We hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s Day!
Board News: The Board met on February 6, 2024, at Hereford & Hops in Escanaba. They were pleased to see many members in
attendance on January 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bay College-LWV & AAUW public informational meeting on new voting changes and
election procedures in effect in Michigan’s Constitution with passage of Proposal 2 of 2022. An engaged audience of forty-nine
people attended it. Nancy Przewrocki, Delta County Clerk, and John Meyers, representing the Board of Canvassers, helped to answer
questions and clarify issues. The Branch New Years Pizza Party on January 11-at 5:30 p.m., at Hereford & Hops, was a fun event and
well-attended. Kim Knauff- Wyckoff, guest speaker, shared information about the Honor Flight for Veterans. AAUW collected a good
will offering for the Flight. The Board thanked Sue Harris and Liz LaBay for helping with arrangements for the speaker.
Scholarships: The Bay College representative notified the Board that our AAUW scholarship recipient graduated in December. The
Board moved to award the remaining $500 to the runner up of the Jokipii Scholarship.
Meetings: Gordy Fitch, Chair of the New YMCA Swimming Pool Fundraiser Drive, will speak at our March Membership meeting at
the YMCA, 2000 N 30 th St., Escanaba, A tentative time is set for 6:30 p.m. A free will offering will be collected. Confirmed time and
room TBBA. The Board set the Annual Membership and Election of Officers Meeting for May 16, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. Nancy Smith,
Co-VP of Programs, is arranging the meeting site, entertainment, and speaker. More information will follow.

OpenUpAAUW.org is a new website to checkout. AAUW
National and AAUW of Michigan support eliminating the
membership requirement of earning a degree, They
believe open membership should be available to any
individual who supports AAUW’s mission of advancing
equity for women and girls. The above images reflect
that reasoning. AAUW will not change their name
because AAUW is a well known “brand” for gender
equity. Members will vote online April 3-May15, 2024.
